How to split a tip
You have a bill, a percent, and a number of people. You will read the tip, the total, and the share in this tab. 100 at 20% for 4 people is a tip of 20.00 and 30.00 each. The 30.00 is the whole bill split four ways. The tip alone, split four ways, would be 5.00.

2.9 people counts as 2. On a bill of 100 at 20%, each of those 2 pays 60.00. 1.2 people counts as 1, so the one person pays 120.00.
